Remembering Those Who Died Protecting Their Beloved USA

Posted OnMay 24, 2014

American flag

Memorial Day is celebrated in many ways in the United States as the date marks the start of the summer, preparation for a big shopping day/weekend or hanging out with friends and family breaking out the barbeque.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s military service protecting their country. On Veterans Day, we honor those who have served in the United States military. Without the valor and dedication of our devoted military, Americans would not enjoy the freedom we currently have.

This day and every day of each year, we celebrate our nation’s military and thank them for giving us the ability to live as safely as is possible in today’s troubled world.

Arlington National Cemetery is holding a series of events from May through June, 2014 that commemorates 150 years as a national cemetery  and its time honored traditions.

At 3 p.m., Americans are encouraged to pause wherever they are at that time for a moment of silence to remember those who have died in military service for their nation.
